chris, tim, and i went to see it when it first came out.

maybe i'm just a grown-up now, my peter pan days too well hidden behind utility bills and providing for my family. but -

it was pretty damn bad.

i am happy to say i don't agree.
i didn't go in expecting it to be great, which it wasn't.
i thought the musical numbers were generally pretty strong and they mostly fell down in the weird juxtaposition between perfectly normal dialogue scenes and musical numbers. it couldn't quite get them to mesh, so there was weird jarring as it went in and out of songs.
but la vie boheme was really wonderful.
ross went with me and whilst he didn't like it so much as me (i ws certainly getting a kick out of the nostalgia) generally agreed that it was decent--and it made him want to see the stage play.
so yeah, my verdict was a lot more mixed than yours.

make sure to rent (hehe) it when it comes out on dvd- there is an alternate ending on disc two that I think makes the movie. oh and it seems to flow a lot more smoothly on a second viewing.
