so after stockholm we took the train to copenhagen. arrived very late and couldn't figure out where to go from the train station or how to get to the hostel. so wandered the copenhagen station for 1/2 an hour around midnight mon night/tues morning before surrendering and calling the hostel for directions. then it was easy and we arrived and went to sleep.

tuesday morning dawdled a lot in getting ourselves figured out and deciding what to do, then ended up going to the museum of danish resistance, which is all about the above, during WW2. very neat and learned lots of random information about saboteurs and illegal radio operators and 'liquidations.' resistance types were executed, informers liquidated, according to the musuem. which rather amused me.

after that we arranged our own sort of walking tour of copenhagen. starting with the little mermaid statue we wandered around look at fabulous buildings--including the stock exchange whose spire is made out of the tails of the dragons at it's base--and finding random cool neighborhoods.

wednesday we went to the national museum, which is free on wednesdays and wandered through exhibits on danish prehistory, middle ages and renaissance. rena wandered off to the asian exhibits for a while, but i stayed in the danish bits. left before it close to go to the big art museum, which was supposed to be open til 8. it wasn't. it closed at 5 for some to-do involving people in nice clothes with little blue tickets to let them in. so we hung about the gardens and rested our feet for a bit. and didn't mind so much about not getting to go to that musuem because on the way we found a fabulous geek store full of sci-fi books and role-playing games and tons of very cool-looking LARP weaponry. proper foam swords but very nicely painted. which they make in the store. and fuzzy 10 and 20 sided dice.

today we went to the Christianborg palace. wandered the ruins underneath this morning and we're going back later for the guided tour to the reception rooms. the ruins were cool because we got to see how they built like 5 successive castles one atop the other. and now we're in the geek store, which also has an internet cafe.

tomorrow we begin our day-long, 3 train journey to warsaw.
