stayed friday night on the floor at house of them in order to get up at 3am to begin journey to stansted airport for 6:40 flight. arrive safely despite anxiety and confusing buses and continued to sleep off and on through airplane and bus rides until made it into stockholm proper around noon and hunted down the hostel. rest of the day was spent aimlessly wandering stockholm just because. and our hostel was full of ikea furnishings. huzzah!
sunday went to a place called skansen, an open air museum with lots of miscelleneous stuff including an old-fashioned village thing (unfortunately most of he houses were closed buy still quite cool) lots of windmills, a tobacco and match museum--i kid you not. apparently matces were invented in sweden--and a zoo. which made me very happy because it was full of furry creatures. bears, wolves, foxes, lynxes, wolverines, ferrets, seals, etc. and we got to watch bears and wolves play which is very amusing. especially seeing a bear use a tire swing. whee! which bu me in a very happy mood.
today went to museum called nordiska which is kind of random collection of things wedish. lots of furnishings. apparently the swedes greatly studied how best to lay out homes and based heights of kitcen counters, etc. on the height of the average woman. which amused me muchly an made me understand why ikea comes from sweden. there was alo an exhibit called `the horse--whipped, bridled, loved`. he name aloneis sufficient for much laughter. most of the commentary was only in swedish but they had plaque at the beginning of each section translated into english. there was even a section on horss and eroticism. it had a video clip of a woman fondling a horse`s head. i didn`t understand.
and in half hour i get train to copenhagen.
