Sep. 12th, 2004 10:54 amwent to the maryland ren faire yesterday (or ren fest as brannon insists it should be called, for it calls itself the maryland rennaissance festival, not faire). went with my friend nini and her fiance, who kindly did the driving of me who is car-less and met with brannon and anna, another friend of nini's who i did not so much know. but she turned out to be utterly cool. (and realise that very few of y'all know who these people are, but names are for the benefit of those who do.)
twas most fun, with sword swallowing and parodies of shakespeare and mead and shops of wonderfulness--all the sorts of things one normally finds at faire. was also nifty to have my second experience of going to a faire and being old enough to purchase mead. la!
then we went to the home of nini's parents. the second one, in annapolis, for they have 2. and brannon, anna and i got a tour and admired very much the utter gorgeousness of the house, which is most large and beautiful, with lots of confusion every time you turn on a light because there's so many buttons. and there was swimming in the pool and raiding of food supplies and amusement as nini explained that despite the hugeness of the kitchen and the fact that it has all sorts of nifty cooking features it only gets used on holidays because no one in her family actually cooks.
and generally twas a lovely day. though i should have been getting homework done, i feel it was well-spent.
